The Mahamrityunjaya Mantra (also called Mrita Sanjivini Mantra) is from the Rig Veda (7.59.12), attributed to sage Markandeya. It is the most powerful healing mantra in Hinduism, believed to conquer death and grant immortality. It is chanted for: healing from serious illness, protection from accidents, overcoming fear of death, and during funerary rites. It is recommended to chant 108 times, especially on Mondays, during Maha Shivaratri, on birthdays, and when someone is critically ill. It is one of the two most important Shiva mantras (the other being Om Namah Shivaya).
